Week 4 - Hangover Preview

Good discussion yesterday about the future of the Hangover event. Lots of viewpoints for the powers that be to consider. Anyway... despite removing the "mandatory" attendance requirement at the bar Saturday night, I still expect a good turnout. Red Dog at 8pm for those of you who want in on whatever side-bet or game we figure out.

As for the golf, "Pencil Thin" Gorecki got us on TPC Tampa for $58 after tax. That allegedly includes range balls as well. It's pricier than my target for events in the Summer... but the course is good and the location is central. We'll live a little this week and make it up in July.

Everyone is on the WHITE tees unless I'm told otherwise. You can find the scorecard here. Keep in mind it's a par 71, so add about 150 yards to whatever the total says. Moving back one set makes it 6,500 yards (adjusted) and you only get one "bonus" stroke. No thanks.

Tee time is 9:12am and we're going out in order of standings this week.

I'll see most of you at the bar.

Any word on if/when the greens were punched?

No idea. I assumed Gorecki inquired about that when he was "negotiating" the deal. He likes to tell people that he's a deal man. And that he gets us the best, greatest, most amazing deals. You want a great course for The Memorial? Deal! Buffy Creek. Most amazing course ever. At Buffy Creek, the greens punch you!

That's quite the assumption. He must be a student of The Art of the Deal.

Time for some Fact Checking:

- Greens don't get punched at TPC until the end of June.

- The rate, without my "connection", at that time would be $84. So I would rate this 35% discount between best and greatest. Most amazing? Not so much but I'll try to achieve that next time.

- Buffy creek is NOT a deal in the winter when they charge close to $60 to play there. It is a preferred course of mine so like Reid, I like to schedule an event at a course I prefer.

- Memorial course location has not been decided yet as my time was consumed these past several weeks corresponding with TPC. So I'll begin working on that next and hope everyone enjoys TPC on Sunday!

Nobody said the greens were punched. I asked if they were because I was looking for a built-in excuse.

Hey Mike H.! Glad you figured out the blog posting. We didn't hear from you soon enough and only booked 16 spots. Gonna try to add one now so stay tuned. Either me or Dave will get in touch with you when we find out whats up.

Beyond that... just let us know before a week out if you're in! Sorry about any confusion.

I know you were just inquiring Faz. So I called to make sure they weren't and that's when they said they do it the same time every year the last week of June. I found courses announce if they greens have been / are scheduled to be punched when you're about to book a tee time. But a good reminder to ask especially during summer months.

Chandler- Do other courses have set aerating dates like TPC? Maybe keep a log of this as it would be a good reference when planning out tourney locations especially during our summer seasons?

Thanks Chandler, I'll post more and will whether I play or not me and the GF will still see you at red bar Saturday night. I should be able to play every Sunday barring any emergency

I nominate Gorecki to be the punching chair.

Please tell me this bar has tvs to watch hockey... also where exactly is this bar

Wow Mike is truly showing his "I'm not from S Tampa" roots. JW is shaking his head in shame.

Was called Red Dog. Now just "The Dog Saloon". On the North Side of Bay to Bay Blvd between Himes and MacDill.

Yes, its a sports bar so hockey game will be on. And they better also be showing UF vs USF Baseball regionals to appease the host of tomorrow's tournament.

Hahaha, I was shaking my head in shame. Too bad we aren't doing the hangover on a Friday morning so we could have been at Red Dog for lingerie night.
