None of you are going to be hungover.
Ever since the BGR accidentally released Corona Premier from one of their laboratories — with its weak 4% ABV and paltry 2.6 carbs — a pandemic has been spreading through the Club. Darren and Faz haven't both attended (ie: at the same time) a Champions Dinner in about 3 years. The Westchase Retirement Club won't travel more than a mile from the comfort of their HOA and CDD. John lost The Power.
So while headaches and dehydration won't be an issue on Sunday, let's talk about golf.
We played Cheval once back in 2017. Gary, Reid, Tall Mike, and Dave finished 1 through 4 — all at even par (net) or better. Gorecki, who needs zero points if we're going to have a meaningful final, finished 7th.
The course is pretty tricked up, allegedly due to how it was routed during the development of the neighborhood. Steve Smyers was brought in for the actual construction. Other courses we play designed by him include: Southern Dunes (awesome!), Crescent Oaks (not fun!), and Countryway (mixed bag of shit!).
Cheval has 5 par 3s, most of them long. There's some tight OB, so I'm not liking high-handicapped sprayers of the ball here. Those fools had their day at Southern Hills, Grassland's first 14 holes, Lakewood National, and Lake Jovita. And maybe that's why our leader board looks the way it does... not enough shot-makers layouts?
Everyone is on the WHITE tees, except Melberg, Dave, Faz (BLUE) and Katie (ORANGE).
Winning score should be around -2 (net). I'll take Melberg and Dave on my DraftKings lineup. An actual good golfer will win this week.
See you Sunday.
It should be noted that I’ve never missed a dinner for any reason other than being out of town. And usually it’s because I won’t bitch when a certain date works for everyone but me. This year was different with a last minute trip popping up.
ReplyDeleteThat doesn't need to be noted.
ReplyDeleteAnd yet, it has been noted.
ReplyDeleteShouldn’t have been.
ReplyDeleteBut it was.
ReplyDeleteI'll probably be leading through 9 and then switch from Dr. Ferguson to Mr. Dub on the back like I have several times this season. Geoff will walk off after 17, take the max on 18, and save himself 2 or 3 golf balls.
ReplyDeleteThere will be no more than 4 golfers eligible to win after Sunday. Most likely scenario is only two. I think either Moostie or Casey bring their A game on Sunday and one of them wins to keep a little pressure on Gorecki.
Duly noted.
